North West Wedding Photography, Based in Manchester

Hey! I’m Al, a Manchester wedding photographer, I specialise in…well being chilled out. I take relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography for couples who want real moments over spending their whole wedding pretending to be models. The laughs, the nerves, the excitement, the quiet bits in between. Nothing stiff, nothing over-directed, just honest memories of how the day actually felt.

I won’t have you standing around posing for hours. Instead, I’ll blend into the background and capture things as they unfold, stepping in when it helps. The aim is simple: photos that bring you straight back to the feeling of the day. The fun, the emotion, the people you love, exactly as they were.

As a wedding photographer Based in Manchester, I travel across the North West, including Cheshire, Lancashire and even Yorkshire. I especially love couples who care less about tradition and more about what feels right to them, whether that’s a big city wedding, a low-key pub party, or a small registry office ceremony with the people who matter most.

No stiff posing.

No group photos that drag on forever.

Just a relaxed wedding day that feels easy and fun.

Documentary Wedding Photography

If you’re like most people (me included), the idea of having a camera around all day can feel a bit daunting. Feeling camera-shy or slightly nervous is completely normal, and it’s something I’m very used to working with. For the most part, I let things unfold naturally, so you can enjoy your day without feeling like you’re constantly being photographed. The focus is on keeping everything relaxed, natural, and genuinely enjoyable.

My approach is laid-back and unobtrusive. I’ll mostly be capturing candid moments in the background and when it’s time for a few portraits, I’ll guide you gently, without forcing poses or anything that feels awkward or cringey. I don’t chase trends or push a particular look. I’m simply there to tell your story, honestly and naturally. No pressure, no drama, just good vibes and photos that feel like you.

I offer Full Day coverage, Half Day coverage and even Registry, Micro Weddings and Elopement packages. So If you’re doing things your own way, I’m all for it. Whether you’re ditching tradition completely or just putting your own spin on the day, I love documenting weddings that reflect you as a couple, not a template.

Relaxed. Real. You.

How I Photograph Weddings.

Natural, documentary photography
Documentary wedding photography is about capturing real moments as they happen, without staging or interrupting the flow of the day. And thats what I do! It allow’s me to capture real moments as they happen: the laughter, the nerves, the hugs, the excitement. You know, the in-between bits that tell the real story. The result? A collection of images that feel like you, not a Pinterest board of someone else’s wedding.

Group shots that don’t feel forced
Group photos are important, but they don’t need to feel super formal or time consuming. I keep things relaxed and lightly guided, so everyone feels at ease and the photos still feel like you. We’ll go through the shots you want beforehand, so on the day everything runs smoothly and you can get back to spending time with your guests.

A mix of moments, not just one style
I believe the best wedding galleries include the whole . Quiet, emotional moments. Big reactions. Small details. Wide scenes and close-ups. This gives you a full picture of the day, not just a highlight reel of posed shots.

The result is a wedding album that feels varied, honest, and true to how the day unfolded.

We’re not ‘photo’ people, but Al made everything feel ridiculously easy. He photographed our wedding in Manchester without ever making it feel like a photoshoot. The photos are full of real laughs, little looks, and moments we didn’t even realise were happening. If you want relaxed, documentary wedding photography that actually feels like you, he’s your guy!
